Updated markets on the 2014 Chipping Norton Stakes at Warwick Farm Racecourse on Saturday are now out at the Aussie bookmakers following the release of the eight-horse final field by Racing New South Wales this morning.

Running as Race 5 at 3:40pm (AEST) at the weekend’s big Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival meet, this year’s $500,000 Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) field is led by short-priced favourite It’s A Dundeel.

Murray Baker’s five-time Group 1 champ came up trumps with barrier one for their weekend assignment and as such is already nearing odds-on territory in the Chipping Norton Stakes odds at a current quote of $2.

They are first-up here, the former star three-year-old last seen running a luckless eighth behind upset winner Shamus Award in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley in late October.

Their form before that however was excellent including a narrow victory over top mare Atlantic Jewel in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (2000m).

Plus the Kiwi raider also won a Randwick trial over 1215m on February 24 by an easy two lengths in the perfect fitness test for the highly anticipated return to racing.

Two of their rivals are then also under double figures in Chipping Norton betting with the Chris Waller-trained duo of Emirates Stakes winning Bernardini gelding Boban ($3.80) and $7 third favourite Hawkspur.

Purrealist four-year-old Hawkspur won the Queensland Derby last winter but their only victory since was in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) back in September.

They resumed at Caulfield on February 8 but failed to impress when nine lengths off Moment Of Change to finish last in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) where they didn’t appreciate the firm ground.

Also in the mix at slightly more generous odds are Waller’s third hopeful Moriarty ($10) who caught the eye in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes last time out crossing third and Prince Cheri ($14) in barrier three.

David Vandyke’s lightly-raced import Prince Cheri is yet to run a bad race in their five runs down under that have produced three wins.

They are first-up here having run just one and a half lengths away sixth to Seville last time out at Randwick back in October in the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m).
