Five All Causes Upset and Wins 2014 Frances Tressady Stakes

Classy four-year-old Five All has caused a huge boil-over in winning the Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m) at Flemington Racecourse this afternoon from pre-post favourite Floria and Sino Eagle.

Having settled well within the pack rounding the final bend, Five All had no problem reeling in classy Peter Moody-trained pair Floria and Sino Eagle and comfortably strolled in to claim maiden honours at Group level.

Following the race, trainer Darren Weir revealed he wasn’t completely convinced Five All had the class to pull off a win in the Frances Tressady Stakes, and praised her owners for making the final decision to accept.

“It’s a real family affair” Weir said of Five All’s connections.

“I must say I wasn’t that keen on running it but Greg said why not have a throw at the stumps while it’s racing well and it proved to be the right move.

“Michelle gave her a terrific ride. She sort of had a plan; she said she wanted to go back and find the rail and thought she would run better ridden a little bit more quietly, and she proved right.

“She’s just a really progressive filly.”

Jockey Michelle Payne, who was on-board the luckless Prince Of Penzance in the Listed Roy Higgins Quality earlier in the day, was ecstatic to claim a win on the talented Court Of Jewels mare.

“That was great” Payne said after dismounting.

“I’ve been waiting to get on this horse for a long time – I’ve ridden her in a few trials and she’s an absolutely lovely mare.

“It just worked out lovely; she settled really well, produced a lovely run and she has a great turn of foot when she can be allowed to settle back.

“She gave me the sweetest ride the whole way round, she didn’t put a foot wrong and it was just really nice to get the win.” is currently offering the best odds on all Flemington races today, including the Group 1 Australian Guineas!
