John Singleton-owned Strawberry Boy is one such runner pencilled in to open his 2014 account in the TAB Rewards Stakes and is currently the outright $3.30 favourite in betting markets ahead of Dany The Fox ($5), High Esteem ($5.50) and Mouro ($6).

Can Strawberry Boy kick off his 2014 autumn preparation in style, or will undoubted market mover Dany The Fox prove punters everywhere right?

1st

Strawberry Boy ($3.30)

Whilst only lining up for two starts in his 2013 Autumn preparation, Strawberry Boy was in perfect touch when claiming both the Secondbite Fresh Food Handicap (1400m) and Chase Hotel Handicap (1600m) in front of a talented field that included Bit Of Hell. Despite a less-than-convincing 13th behind Rebel Dane in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) in his 2013 spring campaign, the talented Redoute’s Choice gelding closed his campaign well when second behind classy miler Boban in the Group 3 Moonga Stakes (1400m) in October. Trainer Peter Moody has been happy with the way Strawberry Boy has taken to work early in 2014, and will be tough to beat from barrier 6 this weekend.

2nd

Mouro ($6)

Classy five-year-old Mouro (barrier 1) managed a strong 2013 spring preparation, finishing the year with two consecutive wins that included the Group 3 Eclipse Stakes (1800m) ahead of Rain Drum and Bel Thor. Trainer Tony McEvoy has a particularly high opinion of the Grand Slam entire, and has hopes of an appearance in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) in April, dependant on this weekend’s result.

3rd

Dany The Fox ($5)

Having amassed six wins from 19 competitive starts to date, Dany The Fox slowly built to the task in the spring of 2013, ending his campaign with a strong fifth in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m), despite being blocked for a run in the final straight. Trainer Mick Price is also hopeful for an appearance in the Doncaster Mile for the talented Danroad gelding and is confident of a first-up victory for the continually firming chance in the TAB Rewards Stakes.
