Talented six-year-old Pago Rock highlights the final field for the 2014 Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap (1000m), set to run down the famous Flemington straight race 8 on Saturday.
Having claimed 10 wins from 26 race starts to date, Pago Rock (barrier 7) completed a long but particularly consistent 2013 preparation, opening with a strong win in the Elizabeth S Marshall Handicap (1100m) on May 11th and closing further behind in-form sprinter Lankan Rupee in the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1200m) on November 16th.
Having finished fourth behind Snitzerland in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) over the same course and distance first-up, Pago Rock is the undoubted favourite for the 2014 Bob Hoysted Handicap at a current quote of $4.80.
Classy filly Miracles Of Life (barrier 4) has been confirmed for her first-up run for 2014 in the Bob Hoysted Handicap and will be aiming to recapture the incredible form which produced victories in all four races over her maiden preparation last season, including the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m).
Trainer Daniel Clarken revealed the daughter of Not A Single Doubt, who is currently clear second-favourite for the Bob Hoysted Handicap at $5, took to the spelling paddock particularly well in October and will return to the track on Saturday in great condition.
Trainer Peter Moody is offered double the chance of 2014 Bob Hoysted Handicap success, having accepted positions for classy sprinters Brilliant Bisc (barrier 5)and Office Bearer (barrier 2).
Brilliant Bisc was unable to overcome an awkward jump in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes on February 15th, finishing seventh amongst a particularly classy field.
Despite being unable to secure a win since claimed the Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) on debut in 2012, Moody is confident the Elvstroem filly’s run in the Lightning Stakes two weeks ago will count for a lot in the Bob Hoysted Handicap.
Office Bearer has claimed four wins from only eight race starts to date and finished fourth behind It Is Written in the Listed Testa Rossa Stakes (1200m) last time out.
Classy four-year-old Couldn’t Agreemore (barrier 12) has won four races and placed in five over just 13 starts to date, and has registered as the undoubted market mover for the 2014 Bob Hoysted Handicap at a current price of $7.50.
The Not A Single Doubt gelding has returned to the track in 2014 in scintillating form, having claimed the Tattsbet Handicap (1000m) by nearly three lengths from Ogunde and Alpha Man on January 25th.
A total of 12 runners have accepted for the 2014 Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap at Flemington this Saturday.
