2014 Frances Tressady Stakes Final Field and Barrier Draw

The 2014 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m) will jump race 5 at Flemington on Saturday, and will feature just 10 runners following the release of the final field and barrier draw for the Group 3 event this morning.

Trainer Peter Moody will only saddle two runners in the Frances Tressady Stakes, Sino Eagle and Floria after removing leading chance A Time For Julia from nominations to instead line up in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1400m) in Sydney.

Sino Eagle has produced a particularly strong 2014 preparation to date; claiming victory in both the Sportingbet Best Tote Plus (1200m) and Indian Summer Handicap (1400m) after finishing an unlucky second behind Songspur in the Browns Sawdust And Shavings Maiden (1200m) first-up.

New Zealand import Floria has quickly adapted to life across the ditch, securing four places and a win since joined Moody’s Caulfield stables in February 2013 including the Group 3 Summond Stakes (1600m) on November 16th.

Featuring as the only remaining Frances Tressady Stakes accepter to carry winning form into this weekend’s Group 3, Ciaron Maher-trained Catered has returned to the track in 2014 in peak form, following up an impressive barrier trial at Sandown in January with a first-up win in the O’Connor-David Bourke Memorial Maiden (1400m) on February 9th.

An autumn path has not been set in stone for the Red Ransom mare, with Maher likely to base future appearances on a results basis.

Also featuring in the final field for the 2014 Frances Tressady Stakes is well-trialled mare Power Princess.

Having secured 12 wins from 31 starts to date, Power Princess finished eighth in the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) most recently; her first start under the care of leading trainer Mick Price after transferring from the Aquanita Stables of Simon Miller at the conclusion of her 2013 campaign.

Despite the less-than-impressive first-up result, Price is confident of a vastly improved run from the seven-year-old Marwina mare, even from the slightly awkward barrier 8.
