Moment Of Change Takes Out 2014 Futurity Stakes Win

Moment Of Change has led all the way to win the 2014 Futurity Stakes at Caulfield Racecourse.

The five-year-old held off a final sprint challenge from Sertorius, who was beaten a long neck on the line after missing the start by two lengths.

Pinwheel placed in third position in the 2014 Futurity Stakes, while race favourite Bull Point finished in fourth placing.

Moment Of Change has now won seven of his 21 race starts and has earned more than $1.56 million in prize money so far.

The Barely A Moment gelding has now won two Group 1 races in a row, after claiming victory in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes at Caulfield on February 8.

He has won all four of his starts at 1,400 metres at Caulfield Racecourse, three of which have been at Group 1 level.

Trainer Peter Moody felt that Moment Of Change was a worthy winner of the 2014 Futurity Stakes.

“He’s in great shape. He’s in peak form,” Moody said.

“Obviously this trip, this track, everyone says it’s a frontrunner’s track.

“They can’t close when they’re chasing that far.”

Moody feels that Moment Of Change can continue his Group 1 haul during the autumn carnival and has aimed him at the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap on March 8, 2014.

“He’s done it three or four season now,” he said.

“There’s no reason why he can’t do it a while longer.

“He’s always run good up the straight. It’s hard not to run there when you’ve never been unplaced.

“And this year he might find the bunny.

“Obviously he’s gone for all the big races in Sydney but we’ll just focus on the Newmarket.

Luke Nolen was the jockey to steer Moment Of Change to his 2014 Futurity Stakes win.

“He hasn’t been known for… being the model of consistency,” Nolen said of Moment Of Change.

“(But) he continues to be resilient to the line.”
