Terravista Undoubted Market Mover for 2014 Southern Cross Stakes

The 2014 Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) will feature just nine runners after classy Team Hawkes-trained hopeful Not Listenin’tome was removed to chase success in the Group 3 Zeditave Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.

Joseph Pride-trained Terravista is currently the $3.10 favourite for the 2014 Southern Cross Stakes ahead of That’s A Good Idea ($4.20), Albrecht ($5.50) and Toydini ($7).

Can Terravista translate winning form into another podium finish, or will one of his eight classy opponents sneak through and win the 2014 Southern Cross Stakes?

1st

Terravista ($3.10)

Classy gelding Terravista has produced a sensational start to his racing career since debuting in the autumn on 2013, claiming four wins from only six starts and running second to White Sage in the Listed Festival Stakes (1500m) last time out. Have won a strong barrier trial at Randwick on February 11th, Pride is confident the son of Captain Rio will perform from the outset and will be particularly hard to beat in the Southern Cross Stakes from barrier 4.

2nd

Toydini ($7)

Toydini experienced a good run of form throughout the 2013 spring racing carnival, claiming the Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m), Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) and running a strong third behind Boban and Streama in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m). Trainer Guy Walter is confident of a successful season for the Bernardini gelding which will start with the 2014 Southern Cross Stakes, having also included him in early nominations for the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) and Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m).

3rd

Riva De Lago ($16)

Despite noticeably fading throughout the 2013 spring, Riva De Lago produced one of the most consisted autumn preparations of any Australian runner, and represents particularly good value to punters at $16 for the 2014 Southern Cross Stakes. Trainer Chris Waller has been pleased with the Encosta De Lago’s preparation for autumn 2014 and is confident of a successful run from barrier 1.
