Marianne Favourite for 2014 Angus Armanasco Stakes

The 2014 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) is set to feature as the Peter Moody show at Caulfield on Saturday, with the leading Victorian trainer set to saddle five on the nine entrants for the Group 2 event.

Having claimed two wins and two places in only five race starts to date, Marianne ($2.40) currently leads betting markets for the 2014 Angus Armanasco Stakes ahead of Bound For Earth ($4), Spirits Dance ($4.20) and Patricia Dawn ($8.50).

Can Marianne prevent a Peter Moody victory, or can any of Diamond Glow ($21), Metaphorical ($16), Miralago ($41), Arikara ($51) or Spirits Dance deliver him the 2014 Angus Armanasco Stakes crown?

1st

Bound For Earth ($4)

Having recorded a consistent 2013 spring campaign that was well and truly highlighted with a win in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) ahead of leading filly Guelph, Bound For Earth offers punters excellent value at her current quote of $4. Finishing just outside the places in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) first-up on February 8th, trainer John O’Shea is confident the Northern Meteor filly will be much better for the run and hard to beat in the Angus Armanasco Stakes, particularly from barrier 2.

2nd

Marianne ($2.40)

Leading jockey Craig Williams will return to the saddle of Marianne for the 2014 Angus Armanasco Stakes, having partnered the Darci Brahma filly in four of her five starts to date; including two wins and a place. Marianne has returned to the track in top form in 2014, finishing an unlucky second behind Spirits Dance in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) first-up after overcoming a blocked-run when rounding the final bend.

3rd

Miralago ($41)

Talented three-year-old Miralago is a $41 outsider for the 2014 Angus Armanasco Stakes, but offers punters unbeatable value for many, particularly when included as a ‘place’ bet. Having claimed one victory and two places in only four starts, the Fastnet Rock filly will jump from the ideal barrier 1 and will be partnered by in-form jockey Glen Boss.
