Having been included in the final field for the 2014 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) on Saturday, trainer John Hawkes revealed he has no set plans for talented three-year-old Not Listenin’tome beyond this weekend’s Group 3 event at Royal Randwick.
Having closed a memorable 2013 debut campaign second behind one of the season’s biggest performers Zoustar in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m), Not Listenin’tome has contested only four events in his short career to date, but has already shown the makings of a champion several times.
Hawkes told TVN this morning the path chosen for Not Listenin’tome to Autumn will be dictated by form, results and on a step-by-step basis.
“He’s fine but one step at a time with him” Hawkes said.
Owned by renowned Hong Kong-based trainer John Moore, Hawkes also said the exciting Dylan Thomas gelding will definitely remain in the care of Team Hawkes throughout his 2014 Autumn preparation.
“He’ll be here through the autumn” he added.
After opening his career with a stunning six-length victory over Ilgattino and Ancient Rome in the Taste Of Spring Raceday Maiden (1100m), Not Listenin’tome won the Hygain Handicap (1200m) from classy gelding Sistine Demon before placing an unlucky second behind Thermal Current in the Group 3 Telstra Phonewords Stakes (1200m).
