Eleven runners have been confirmed to take to the track for the 2014 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday after the final field and barrier draw for the Group 3 event was released on Wednesday, including Arinosa.
Despite a less-than memorable maiden tilt at Group 1 level when finishing last in the Manikato Stakes (1200m), Arinosa performed well throughout the 2013 spring carnival, clinching an exciting win over Dystopia in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) and closing his preparation third behind Plucky Belle and She’s Clean in the Group 3 Lavazza Short Black (1400m).
Having been blocked for a run and finishing tenth in the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) first-up on February 8th, trainer Chris Waller is confident the Dash For Cash mare is the runner to beat in the Mannerism Stakes despite drawing the wide barrier 10.
Also appearing in the final field for the 2014 Mannerism Stakes is Bonaria.
Bonaria was unable to make much of an impact over a busy 2013 spring campaign despite finishing second to Zonza in the Group 3 Snow White Maintainance Classic (1600m), but has returned to the track in great condition in 2014, overcoming a poor racing line to finish third in the Bellmaine Stakes two weeks ago.
Trainer Pat Hyland has underlined a busy autumn campaign for the in-form Redoute’s Choice mare, whose claims on the Mannerism Stakes received a huge boost when drawing barrier 1.
Trainer Anthony Freedman has included four-year-old Hazard in the final field for the 2014 Mannerism Stakes.
Having been blocked in the final straight, the classy Flying Spur mare produced a fantastic sprint to finish third behind a flying Knoydart and Don’t Get Excited in the Listed Hareeba Stakes (1200m) at Mornington last week.
Despite a short spring campaign, Hazard performed well throughout 2013; finishing first in the Cath White Memorial Handicap (1200m) and runner-up behind Keyarna Blue in the Listed Laelia Stakes (1600m) most notably.
The 2014 Mannerism Stakes will close a strong race card at Caulfield on Saturday which also includes the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m).
