Guelph Included in 2014 Light Fingers Stakes Final Field

Classy filly Guelph will make her highly anticipated return to the track for the first time in 2014 this Saturday, having been included in the final field for the 2014 Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.

In a highly impressive 2013 spring campaign, the talented Exceed And Excel filly ran a close second to Bound For Earth in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) before capping her season with wins in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m), Group 1 Coolmore Flight Stakes (1600m) and Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m).

Having dominated a Rosehill barrier trial in early February, trainer Peter Snowden in confident Guelph can immediately pick up where she left off in 2013, despite drawing barrier 9.

Gai Waterhouse-trained Sweet Idea returned to the track in November having spent the 2013 spring in the spelling paddock, and despite drawing the unfortunate barrier 10, is an early favourite to cause problems for Guelph having already claimed the Wyong Three-Year-Old Stakes (1200m) and the $1 million Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) this preparation.

Despite opening her racing career in less-than impressive form, three-year-old Zanbagh (barrier 5) produced one of the most consistent 2013 spring campaigns of any Australian runner; claiming the City Of Ballarat Plate (1600m) and Sportsbet Top Tote Plus Handicap (2000m) before running second by a nose to Kirramosa in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) last time out.

Trainer Guy Walter and jockey Blake Shinn teamed up to claim the Expressway Stakes with Appearance two weeks ago, and are confident of repeat success at Group 2 level in the Light Fingers Stakes on Saturday with Zanbagh.

Having strolled home to win the Maiden (1200m) first-up on January 25th, three-year-old Champagne Cath has now claimed three wins from only six starts including the Listed Reginald Allen Quality (1400m) ahead of Kirramosa.

Trainer Chris Waller has outlined a busy Autumn schedule for the Street Sense filly, and is confident Champagne Cath can continue her claim a third win on the trot when leaving from barrier seven in the Light Finger Stakes this weekend.

Team Hawkes-trained Real Surreal (barrier 1) is the only other entrant carrying winning form into the 2014 Light Fingers Stakes, while Thump (barrier 3), Arabian Gold (barrier 11) Gypsy Diamond (barrier 8), Estonian Princess (barrier 4), Everage (barrier 6) and Another Prayer (barrier 2) complete the 11 horse final field. are currently offering all new punters a bonus bet of up to $250 just for signing up!
