Classy Irish import Voleuse De Coeurs will return to the track in 2014 a much more imposing and overwhelming force, after trainer Mike Moroney revealed the Teofilo mare has gained substantial muscle weight since returning to the spelling paddock in early November.
Having only recorded one start in Australia to date; a disappointing 10th in the 2013 Melbourne Cup, the talented five-year-old has been slated for a return to the track in the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) on March 8 before heading to the Group 1 BMW (2400m) and Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) in April.
Reported to have gained more than 75kgs since making the move from Ireland to Australia in October, Volesuse De Coeurs is reported to have displayed top form in a preparation hit-out in late January.
“She had one jump out, she will have another in a fortnight and I might even give her a gallop between races somewhere” Moroney told TVN.
“She looks great, she’s in terrific order.”
Recording a particularly consistent maiden season in 2011, Voleuse De Coeurs recorded undoubtedly her best preparation to date in 2013, winning the Listed Vintage Crop Stakes (2816m), running a strong third in the Group 3 Irish St. Leger Trial Stakes (2816m) before breaking through for her maiden Group 1 victory in the major Irish St. Leger (2816m) in September.
Originally saddled by renowned Irish trainer Dermot Weld at his famed Rosewell House stables, Voleuse De Coeurs was abruptly sold to the Eliza Park International Syndicate in late September to chase further Group 1 success in Australasia.
