Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Coronation Shallan has been ruled out of the Listed Hareeba Stakes (1200m) after trainer Brett Scott confirmed the exciting sprinter will be saved for other races.
Having drawn the outside gate for today’s eighth at Mornington, Scott said the decision to keep the Strategic mare safe of injury was an easy one.
“A lot more can go wrong from out there so we won’t be running her tomorrow” Scott told TVN last night.
“She’ll trial at Balnarring on Friday then run in a mares races at Moonee Valley the following Friday.
Scott also revealed that the exciting form of the talented four-year-old, if maintained, could result in a tilt at the Group 2 Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on March 21st.
“There’s a nice races at Flemington a couple of weeks after that (Balnarring trial)” Scott said.
“If everything is going well then we might have a shot at the Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley with her after Flemington.”
Having only debuted in August 2013, Coronation Shallan has firmed as one of the country’s most exciting four-year-old prospects, having claimed three wins and two seconds from only five starts, including the Sportingbet Best Tote Plus Handicap for Fillies and Mares (1200m) at Moonee Valley in November most recently.
Trialling well in a hit-out at Cranbourne in January, Coronation Shallan is set for a particularly busy campaign which will likely run well into spring.
