Richie’s Vibe Headlines 2014 Hareeba Stakes Field

Impressive last start winners Richie’s Vibe and Knoydart have both been included in the 2014 Hareeba Stakes field and are set to clash in the Listed event at Mornington on Wednesday.

Richie's Vibe flew home late to record a narrow win over Moment Of Change in the Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley on January 24.

Richie’s Vibe has performed well throughout what has been a lengthy preparation, finishing second in the Listed Testa Rossa Stakes (1200m) before winning the MSS Security Sprint (1200m), and broke through for his maiden win at Group level with an upset victory over Moment Of Change in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on January 24.

The Danerich gelding has the opportunity to record back-to-back wins for the first time in his career on Wednesday and will jump from barrier seven with Damien Oliver on board.

Knoydart will be chasing his third straight victory when he contests the Hareeba Stakes after starting his preparation with strong wins in the TAB Rewards Handicap (1250m) at Canterbury on December 28 and the Listed Canterbury Classic (1100m) at the same venue on January 24.

Trainer Peter Snowden is confident that the More Than Ready gelding has the talent to win at Group level, but he will need plenty of luck in the Hareeba Stakes after drawing barrier 15 for the Listed event.

One of the most interesting runners in the 2014 Hareeba Stakes field is talented gelding Zamorar who will be returning to the races for the first time since he finish fourth behind Second Effort in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on July 27 last year.

Zamorar (barrier three) has performed well at Group level throughout his career, finishing in the placings in the 2012 Bletchingly Stakes, Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) and Group 2 P.B. Lawrence Stakes, but is still chasing his maiden black type victory.

Other interesting runners in the 2014 Hareeba Stakes final field include: veteran sprinter Under The Eiffel (barrier two), Wez Hunter-trained Bel Thor (barrier six), last start winner Borsay (barrier 14), 2013 Testa Rossa Stakes winner It Is Written (barrier four) and the resuming Freereturn (barrier one).
