Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Talented colt Dissident has been included in the 2014 Eskimo Prince Stakes nominations and is set to return to the races in the Listed event at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.
Dissident has performed well at the highest level of racing in his career to date, but has been unable to breakthrough for a race win since he took out the Listed Blue Diamond Colts And Geldings Preview (1000m) on debut.
The Sebring colt started his 2013 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a second place finish in the Listed The Rosebud (1200m) and finished a narrow second in both the Group 3 The Run To The Rose (1200m) and Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m).
The three-year-old was well backed in the lead-up to the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m), but faded in the final stages of the race to finish sixth behind Streama and he finished his campaign with a strong fourth in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m).
Trainer Peter Moody is yet to decide on an ultimate 2014 Autumn Racing Carnival target for Dissident, but he has been included in the entries for both the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on March 1 and the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at the same venue a week later.
Talented Kiwi colt El Roca finished just behind Dissident in the Caulfield Guineas and has also been included in the 2014 Eskimo Prince Stakes nominations.
El Roca recorded two impressive wins in New Zealand before coming to Australia and finished second behind Éclair Big Bang in the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) before his luckless fifth in the Caulfield Guineas.
The Fastnet Rock colt will arrive in Australia tomorrow after impressing trainer Trent Busuttin with an dominant three lengths victory in a barrier trial at Avondale last Tuesday.
Gai Waterhouse is set to have a strong hand in the Eskimo Prince Stakes this weekend after including both Romantic Touch and Aussies Love Sport in the nominations for the Listed event.
Romantic Touch failed to fire during the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival, but took out the Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m) during the 2013 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival, while Aussies Love Sport is returning to the races for the first time since he finished third behind Eurozone and Criterion in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m).
