Opening behind early favourite stablemate Lankan Rupee ($3.50), punters quickly snapped up the initial $3.40 quoted for the son of Statue Of Liberty and is now featuring at a comfortable $2.90 to kick off his 2014 calendar in style.

Trained by Mick Price at his local Caulfield stables, Lion Of Belfort burst onto the racing scene in 2013, recording two wins and three places in only five starts and closing his campaign with a strong late run to claim third behind Zoustar in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m).

Lankan Rupee managed a particularly successful 2013 Spring campaign; claiming three wins and a place that included the Listed Dilmah Earl Grey Stakes (1000m) and the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1200m).

Building from his late 2013 form, the Redoute’s Choice gelding trialled particularly well at Cranbourne last week and offers another legitimate chance of Rubiton Stakes glory to trainer Mick Price.

Talented four-year-old Better Than Ready ($4.40) missed the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival after being struck down with injury in July, however did manage to return in mid-November, claiming the Club Super Handicap (1000m) and the Listed Keith Noud Handicap on the trot.

The More Than Ready Stallion will be chasing a first win a Group level in the 2014 Rubiton Stakes before moving on to runs in both the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) and Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m)

While currently featuring as a $17 outsider, Anthony Freedman-trained First Command has been an absolute hit with punters, who have pulled the seasoned Commands gelding in from long odds to register as the unquestionable market mover.

Excelorada ($51) has been given no chance of claiming the 2014 Rubiton Stakes title thus far, while Pocket Rockets ($9), Iconic ($10) and Diamond Oasis ($12) are currently all in with a shot. is offering the best odds on all markets for the 2014 Group 2 Rubiton Stakes.
