Earthquake defeated Sheer Style to win the Colin Pearce 100th Birthday Plate (1000m) at Royal Randwick on November 9 and since the impressive victory has been one of the leading contenders for the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 22.

The daughter of Exceed And Excel was given a stint in the spelling paddock and according to trainer Peter Snowden has returned in excellent condition; performing well when a narrow second behind More Radiant in a barrier trial over 800 metres at Cranbourne last week.

Earthquake will be without regular jockey Kerrin McEvoy, who ruled himself out of the meeting at Caulfield due to a knee problem, but should receive an excellent run into the race from barrier five with Damian Browne on board.

The classy filly will face a number of other talented juveniles in the 2014 Blue Diamond Prelude field; with the undefeated Eloping chasing her third straight victory in the Group 3 event.

Eloping made her racing debut with a win in the BJC Members Celebration Maiden (900m) at Bendigo on December 22 and stamped herself as a filly to watch with a comfortable win over Lumosty and Sakitto in the Listed Blue Diamond Prelude (1000m) at Caulfield on January 25.

The Choisir filly also fared well in the Blue Diamond Prelude barrier draw and will jump from barrier three this weekend.

The other filly taking winning form into the 2014 Blue Diamond Prelude is Ciaron Maher-trained Top Sight, who will be ridden by Michelle Payne when she jumps from barrier four this weekend.

Top Sight (barrier three) won on debut in the Jacob Park Thoroughbreds Plate (1000m) at Caulfield on January 15 and performed well when winning a barrier trial over 800 metres at Sandown last Friday.

David Hayes-trained Mumbai Rock, Fastnet Rock filly Royal Ocean and Byron Cozamanis-trained Snitsnbits will all be making their racing debuts in the 2014 Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude.
