Bugatty Included In 2014 Chairman’s Stakes Nominations

Classy colt Bugatty has been included in the nominations for the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (1100m) that will be held at Caulfield on Saturday.

Bugatty is set to have his third race start in the Chairman's Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday after being included in the nominations for the Group 3 event.

Bugatty made his racing debut with a second place finish behind Blue Diamond Stakes contender Chivalry in the Quest Moonee Valley Plate (1000m) at Moonee Valley on December 28, before recording his maiden race win with a strong performance in the Better Beyond Plate (1000m) at Flemington on January 11.

The Dreamscape colt remains a contender to contest the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 22 and jockey Glen Boss believes that the two-year-old has the ability to win at Group level.

Another talented juvenile that has been included in the 2014 Chairman’s Stakes nominations is Gai Waterhouse-trained Nayeli, who is owned by Greg Kolivos of Pierro fame.

Nayeli made her racing debut with a comfortable two lengths victory in the ATC Membership On Sale Maiden (1000m) at Randwick on January 8 and the form out of that race was franked when runner-up Peggy Jean came out and won the Inglis Classic (1200m) at the same venue on January 18.

Waterhouse stable foreman Mark Newnham said after Nayeli’s impressive debut win that she would be set for the Blue Diamond Stakes and she has also been included in the nominations for the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) and the Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes (1400m).

Illustrious Lad is another debut winner that has been included in the nominations for the Chairman’s Stakes and has been cleared to run after performing well in a barrier trial at Sale on January 14.

The I Am Invincible colt bucked at the start of the Boxing Day Family Races Plate (1000m) at Morphettville Parks on December 21, but was still able to run away from the rest of the field in the final stages of the race to record an impressive win.

Betcher, Eqdaam, Oh So Sleek, Our Kaboom, Tahni Dancer and Tashbeeh are all a chance of making their racing debut in the Chairman’s Stakes at Caulfield this weekend.
