Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Progressive gelding Kaiser Sun is a clear favourite in 2014 Kensington Stakes betting markets after starting his summer preparation with two straight victories down the famous Flemington straight.
Kaiser Sun may be making his debut at Listed level, but is currently a clear favourite to record his fourth straight victory and is now available at a quote of $3.10.
Co-trainers Matthew Ellerton and Simon Zahra both believe that Kaiser Sun has earnt the opportunity to make his black type racing debut and the training duo are confident that the Danerich gelding has the talent to perform at Group level during the 2014 Melbourne Festival Of Racing.
Pocket Rockets will be returning to the races for the first time since September in the Kensington Stakes this weekend and is currently on the second line of betting markets at odds of $5.
The Invincible Spirit gelding returned to Australian racing in March this year and performed well throughout what was a lengthy campaign; recording wins at Oakbank, Bathurst, Morphettville and Flemington.
Pocket Rockets made his Listed debut with a fair fifth place finish in the Carlyon Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley on August 24, but failed to fire in both the Group 3 Theshark.com.au Stakes (1100m) and the Listed W.H. Wylie Handicap (1100m).
The six-year-old does not have a particularly strong first-up record, but trainer Tony McEvoy is confident that the six-year-old is fit enough to perform well this weekend; with a tilt at the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) a possibly for Pocket Rockets if he performs well on Saturday.
Another horse that has been well backed in 2014 Kensington Stakes betting markets has been Stephen Theodore-trained Don’t Get Excited who is now available at a quote of $6.
Don’t Get Excited has performed extremely well since joining the stable of Theodore and recorded four straight victories, at the start of what has been a lengthy campaign in July, before being beaten as favourite in the Dalziel Racing Handicap (1400m) and the Listed Tavern Stakes (1410m).
The Elvstroem gelding returned to the winners stall with an impressive win in the National Jockeys’ Trust Handicap (1200m), but produced an uncharacteristically poor performance in the Listed Christmas Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Boxing Day.
Other gallopers that have found support with punters are First Command ($6), Loveyamadly ($8.50) and General Truce ($11).
