Kensington Stakes 2014 Attracts 17 Nominations

Nominations have been released for the Listed Kensington Stakes, which will take place at Flemington Racecourse this Saturday January 18, 2014.

A total of 17 horses have nominated for the race, including First Command.

First Command has won 12 of his 33 race starts and has earned close to $1 million in prize money during his horse racing career.

The Commands gelding won both his race starts early this preparation and will be looking to recapture that form in the 2014 Kensington Stakes.

First Command’s most recent start was in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes, where he placed seventh of eight runners.

The eight-year-old is trained at Flemington by Anthony Freedman and will have the home track advantage in the 2014 Kensington Stakes.

Also included in the 2014 Kensington Stakes nominations is General Truce.

General Truce has won eight of his 47 race starts and has earned more than $708,000 in prize money so far.

The six-year-old is yet to win a race this preparation, despite having five starts.

He will look to turn his form around when he runs in the 2014 Kensington Stakes this Saturday.

General Truce is trained by Ricky Maund at Cranbourne and will be having his first run at Flemington this campaign.
