The Listed Scenic Blast Stakes is set to run at Ascot Racecourse today January 13, 2014, after two failed attempts at running the race on the weekend.
Extreme heat in Perth forced organisers to transfer the original Saturday race day to Sunday in an effort to find cooler conditions.
However, another day of 40 degree C heat meant that the $100,000 race was forced to be transferred once again.
With a comparably cool 29 degree C forecast for the city today, the 2014 Scenic Blast Stakes will finally go ahead.
Nine horses will line up for a run in the 1,100 metre Scenic Blast Stakes, including race favourite Watermans Bay.
Watermans Bay is paying odds of $3.20 at Ladbrokes.com.au and is also the market mover of the field.
The five-year-old is coming off a seventh placing in the Group 3 AJ Scahill Stakes at Ascot Racecourse on December 7 and will be looking to go six places better in today’s 2014 Scenic Blast Stakes.
Waterman’s Bay is trained by Peter and Matthew Giadresco at Bunbury and will jump from barrier eight in the 2014 Scenic Blast Stakes.
Second favourite for the 2014 Scenic Blast Stakes is Dueton, who is paying odds of $3.60 at Ladbrokes.com.au.
Dueton has won six of his 21 race starts and has earned more than $255,000 in prize money.
The four-year-old has placed third in his two most recent start, with the latest being in the Listed Summer Scorcher on January 1.
