2014 Hobart Guineas – Nominations Released

The Listed Hobart Guineas is due to take place at Hobart Racecourse this Sunday January 19, 2014, and nominations have been taken for the race.

Just nine horses have nominated for the 14 horse capacity Hobart Guineas field, leading race organisers to extend the nominations deadline until tomorrow morning.

Included in the 2014 Hobart Guineas nominations is Geegees Velvet.

The three-year-old has won three of her 13 race starts and has earned more than $113,000 in prize money during her horse racing career.

Geegees Velvet placed second in the Listed Tasmanian Guineas at Launceston last start and will be out to go place better in the 2014 Hobart Guineas.

The Wordsmith filly has failed to finish inside the top three in all five her starts this preparation and is showing no signs of stopping going into this Sunday’s race.

Also included in the 2014 Hobart Guineas nominations is Inner Warrior.

Inner Warrior has won four of his 12 race starts and has earned more than $125,000 in prize money so far.

The God’s Own gelding won the Tasmanian Guineas ahead of Geegees Velvet last start and will be looking to continue her dominant winning run in the 2014 Hobart Guineas.

Inner Warrior is trained by Terence Evans at Brighton and will be fourth-up in this weekend’s race.

Moonless and Varian are also included in the 2014 Hobart Guineas nominations.
