Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Charlie Boy has been scratched from the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas at the Gold Coast tomorrow January 11, 2014.
The three-year-old was the well-backed third favourite to win the race in his first-up run of the summer.
Known for his impressive first-up ability, Charlie Boy was expected to be at the top of his game for the 2014 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.
Charlie Boy was found to have a hamstring injury upon a routine inspection by stewards prior to tomorrow’s Magic Millions Day.
The three-year-old has won two of his nine race starts to date and has earned close to $300,000 in prize money during his short career.
Details surrounding Charlie Boy’s injury are yet to emerge, however, trainer Gerald Ryan gave no hint that the colt was in doubt when discussing his progress yesterday.
“He looks bigger and he is fitter, better than ever,” Ryan said.
“He will get 1400m no worries. He will jump from barrier 11 or 12 but I don’t mind that because I’d prefer he is not boxed in because he doesn’t like horses around him.
“If he gets any luck he’ll be right in the thick of it.”
Charlie Boy’s scratching has now opened up the betting markets for the 2014 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, with Sweet Idea and Enquare now the equal favourites at Ladbrokes.com.au at $4.60.
