Wide Draw No Concern For Charlie Boy In Magic Millions 3YO Guineas

Trainer Gerald Ryan is headed into the 2014 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas with Charlie Boy feeling very confident.

Ryan is not fazed by Charlie Boy’s outside drawn of 16, which will see him jump from barrier 12 of 16 once the emergencies have been withdrawn.

Charlie Boy will be first-up in the 2014 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas due to his impressive record when fresh I previous campaigns.

The three-year-old won the Group 2 Danehill Stakes in his first run last preparation and will be out to mirror that performance in the 2014 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas this weekend.

“He’s done well. He’s two trials have been good. He’s travelled up good,” confirmed Ryan.

“He’s settled down good now. I’m happy with him.

“He’ll start from barrier 12. If you go back you tend to get a fair run.

“So it’s not worrying me a great deal.

“There does look to be good speed and the speed has drawn out wide.

“I reckon he’ll hit the line really well.”

Charlie Boy has won two of his nine race starts and has earned close to $300,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.

While Ryan admitted he’s not at his career best just yet, he believes he could be hitting his straps just in time for some of Brisbane’s feature races during the winter carnival.

“He’s not a Group 1 horse at the moment,” said Ryan.

“(But) he could even be a Stradbroke horse in the winter (as) a three-year-old with no weight on his back. It will suit him.”
