2013 Vo Rogue Plate Field Features Magic Millions Guineas Fancies

This Saturday at Doomben Racecourse a number of notable Gold Coast Magic Millions Day lead-ups will take place including the Vo Rogue Plate 2013 for Magic Millions 3YO Guineas hopes.

One of two Group races on the program, the $150,000 Group 3 Brisbane Racing Club Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) has drawn a good sized field of 15 three-year-olds.

The majority of the Vo Rogue acceptors are using the set weights clash as a trial for the $1 million Gold Coast Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) on January 11.

The form line is a mixed one however with last year’s Vo Rogue Plate winner Lucky Hussler only managing to run 11th in the MM Guineas a fortnight later.

Magic Millions Guineas winner Saluter meanwhile also came via the Vo Rogue having run a credible fourth, while Sizzling finished runner-up in both races.

Among those racing on the weekend are three single figure hopes in the pre-field Magic Millions Guineas 2014 odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Futures markets on the lucrative restricted race are led by the Gai Waterhouse-trained duo Sweet Idea ($5) and Aussies Love Sport ($5.50).

On the third line of betting is then Vo Rogue runner Enquare at $8.50.

This weekend the Jason McLachlan-trained galloper has barrier 10 with Jim Byrne aboard as they shoot for their fourth consecutive victory.

Back in the winter they won a Listed 1400m race at Eagle Farm, resuming four months later to win back-to-back Doomben races this time in.

Most recently they posted another stakes success with Byrne guiding them to a narrow win in the Listed Beach House Bar Mode Plate (1200m) on December 7.

Also under $10 in Magic Millions Guineas betting are fellow Vo Rogue hopes Into The Red ($9) for Kelso Wood and Shiraz Attack ($9.50) who is prepared by the Gold Coast’s Gillian Heinrich.

Not A Single Doubt colt Into The Red also comes off a last start win at the track having held on in a close finish with Choose A Saga to take out the Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m) a fortnight ago.

Shiraz Attack meanwhile won two on the trot before a close third over 1500m at Eagle Farm on November 23, the Oratorio filly up in class but down in distance here.

The other notable Magic Millions 3YO Guineas-bound horses in the mix on Saturday then include Liam Birchley’s dual Group 3 winner Missy Longstocking coming off a Mode Plate who was third in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic last summer, Bel Esprit gelding Architect who was blocked for a run in the gold Edition Plate when ninth and Smart Huss coming off a Gold Edition fifth when beaten just a length in their second career run following a 1300m Eagle Farm win from November.

Check out the full ante-post Magic Millions markets open now at Ladbrokes.com.au who will also be offering the premium prices on all the Brisbane races this Saturday.
