Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
Following a win in the Ballarat Magic Millions Clockwise Classic last start Garry Frazer’s promising filly Sheer Style has opened top of the 2013 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic odds this afternoon.
The field for this year’s $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1100m) is down to just six hopes following the early scratching of the Gai Waterhouse-trained Spirit Of Joy.
Two of the remaining juveniles in the diminutive field are then fighting for favouritism.
Currently winning the betting battle at a nearly odds-on price of $2 is Frazer’s daughter of Snitzel, Sheer Style.
After two second place finishes to kick start her career Sheer Style broke her maiden status at Ballarat on November 24 defeating Geromayo in the $200,000 Magic Millions Clockwise Classic (1000m).
The track was a Heavy (8) that day but Sheer Style must handle firmer ground with Wyong a Good (3) for this afternoon’s feature.
Sheer Style, like the rest of the Wyong MM Classic contenders, is on trial for a trip to the Gold Coast on January 11 for the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m).
She’s currently rated the $8 third favourite for the big one in Queensland, a price that she’ll live up to should she salute for the punters today.
Hot on her heels for Wyong Race 5 this afternoon at $2.40 is then Unencumbered.
Trainer Bjorn Baker is confident heading into the race with his Testa Rossa colt who won at Randwick’s Kensington track on December 7.
Unencumbered met Sheer Style at Rosehill on October 26 running third while the filly finished a half length closer in second place.
That day she carried 54.5kg, the same weight she’s allocated this afternoon, while Unencumbered will drop from 57.5kg to 56.5kg.
The other single figure chance is then Ballarat Magic Millions Clockwise runner-up Geromayo paying $7.50 to go one better than that.
Drawn in gate three the Charge Forward colt is also Gold Coast-bound and pays $12 in the pre-field markets for the multi-million dollar classic.
Rounding out the Wyong Magic Millions Classic field and markets are then the rails-drawn Tommy ($10), the Kris Lees-trained Datable ($11) and $101 roughie of the bunch Fly Buy Fly who ran second over 900m at Scone last Friday.
