Into The Red Shortie in 2013 Gold Edition Plate Betting

Kelso Wood’s progressive Not A Single Doubt colt Into The Red has opened the short priced favourite to win the three-year-olds’ feature at Doomben on Saturday – the Gold Edition Plate 2013.

Running as Brisbane Race 7 at 4:20pm (AEST) this year’s $100,000 Listed Trade Coast Legal Gold Edition Plate (1200m) originally drew a final field of 15 hopefuls.

That figure is down to 13 however with Peter Moody withdrawing the widely-drawn Weinholt and Norm Hilton taking out his lightly-raced chance Ice Cream Girl.

In gate three with Chris Munce to ride is then the $2.90 favourite Into The Red after their first win since a first-up effort at Eagle Farm back in August.

They were taken to Sydney that prep but failed to match it with the runners there.

Their two runs produced a Run To The Rose seventh and then a dead last when 16th beaten nearly 19 lengths by the Chris Waller-trained winner Zoustar in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m).

Spelled after that, they returned at Doomben on November 30 and ran a brave second form barrier 12 (of 12) in an open handicap over 1100m in the wet.

The only other runner in the Gold Edition Plate betting markets under double figures is then $3.60 chance Rudy in gate nine, into eight, with Larry Cassidy booked for the ride.

Based on the Gold Coast the Red Dazzler gelding has won three of their five starts to date.

They broke their maiden status at the Gold Coast with a five length effort over 1200m on a Heavy (8) track before relishing the same conditions at Eagle Farm in July when stepped up to the mile to win by two lengths.

This time in they improved on a first-up sixth over 1000m to win an open handicap over 1110m at Doomben two weeks ago, another Heavy (8) course giving them the advantage.

Other notable chances at more generous prices out for a Gold Edition Plate upset then include another last start Doomben winner Architect ($10) in gate two, Olympic Anthem ($11) after their first win since a debut victory in August, the Rob Heathcote-trained Mossman gelding Neuschwanstein ($12) with winning form up to 1400m, Choose A Saga ($13) and Smart Huss ($13) coming off a win on debut from November 27.
