Heart Testa Tops 2013 Razor Sharp Handicap Odds

Despite being beaten last time out by one of the rivals they face again this weekend, Chris Waller’s in-form four-year-old Heart Testa has opened top of the markets for the Razor Sharp Handicap 2013 on Saturday.

The Testa Rossa gelding enjoyed a Benchmark 95 victory over 1100m at Rosehill two back, their sixth career success coming at start number 12.

They jumped odds-on favourite then for their 13th run back at the same track and distance on November 30.

Heart Testa however was defeated that day in the Listed Starlight Stakes when just under two lengths away second to veteran eight-year-old Zaratone.

They are tipped to turn the tables and re-enter the winners’ stall in Sydney on Saturday however when they line-up favourite in a capacity field for the $100,000 Listed Razor Sharp Handicap (1150m).

Heart Testa currently pays $3.50 in the latest Razor Sharp Handicap odds, the quality handicap clash to bring the Kensington racing action to a close as Race 8 at 5:50pm (AEST).

It’s a relatively open affair however with four of their rivals also under $10 in the markets with:

  • #5 Club Command ($4.20) – Peter Moody’s Commands gelding is drawn wide in barrier 13 (into 11) for their first-up run here not having raced since a Flemington win over 1400m back in June, really consistent galloper with top form in Melbourne which they’re looking to bring to Sydney this summer – autumn campaign
  • #2 Aeronautical ($6.50) – Lionel Cohen-trained son of Encosta De Lago will jump from the rails if emergencies come out so will need to have the speed not to get caught up, they were competitive over the 1100m at Randwick in September when second to Sessions in The Shorts at Group 2 level but failed when ninth to Platelet last start in the Gilgai at Flemington in early October, come off a two month freshen up so could need the run
  • #11 Safeguard ($6.50) – Peter Snowden-trained youngster on the up and up, this Exceed And Excel colt is already a dual Group 3 winner and was eye-catching when third in the Starlight Stakes, get the same 54kg weight here but do have barrier 11 to overcome
  • #1 Zaratone ($8.50) – Beat a number of these last start but carry the 59kg top weight here, also has extreme outside barrier to overcome

Other horses representing even more value in the Razor Sharp Handicap odds then include the Paul Perry-trained Hidden Warrior ($13) and the first emergency Jacquinot Bay ($15) who is rated a top chance despite needing an early scratching to make the cut following their firth in the Starlight Stakes.
