17 Nominations Taken For 2013 Villiers Stakes

Nominations have been released for the Group 2 Villiers Stakes, which will take place on Kensington Track at Randwick this Saturday December 14, 2013.

The Villiers Stakes race day will be run on the Kensington track after the Randwick course proper did not fully responded to the recent resurfacing process, the move also means the final field will be restricted to 14 horses.

A total of 17 horses have been nominated for the 2013 Villiers Stakes, including Coup Ay Tee.

Coup Ay Tee has won nine of his 32 race starts and has earned more than $515,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.

The Danske gelding will be looking for his first win since saluting in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup at Hawkesbury on August 22, 2013.

Coup Ay Tee is trained by Chris Waller at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse and will be having his first run at Kensington in the 2013 Villiers Stakes.

The six-year-old finished sixth in the Group 2 Coupland’s Bakeries Mile at Riccarton Park in New Zealand last start and will be looking to go five spots better this weekend.

Also nominated for the 2013 Villiers Stakes is Western Symbol.

Western Symbol has won six of his 19 race starts and has earned more than $308,000 in prize money.

The High Chaparral gelding has not had a race since October last year and will be making his 2013 debut in the 2013 Villiers Stakes.

Western Symbol has participated in four barrier trials since returning to work and is expected to be fit and ready for this Saturday’s race.

Alma’s Fury and Ninth Legion are also part of the 2013 Villiers Stakes nominations.
