Travel Associates Classic Final Field Released

A strong group of mares will contest the Listed Travel Associates Classic (1200m), the race formerly known as the Tattersalls Classic, at Doomben on Saturday; with classy mare Doubtfilly to carry the top weight of 58.5kg.

Doubtfilly finished her 2013 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival campaign with a narrow victory in the Listed PMP Limited Ascot Handicap (1200m) at Eagle Farm on July 6 but failed to fire when returning to races with a fifth place finish behind Better Than Ready in the Club Super Handicap (1000m) at Eagle Farm on November 9.

The Not A Single Doubt mare showed plenty of talent as a juvenile, finishing third behind Pierro, Snitzerland and Samaready in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), but was inconsistent as a three-year-old and failed to fire at Group 1 level; finishing at the tail of the field in both the Golden Rose (1400m) and Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m).

Doubtfilly defeated Liesele to win the PMP Limited Ascot Handicap earlier this year but Liesele has found her best form since being taken to Melbourne by trainer Liam Birchley for the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival.

The daughter of Exceed And Excel resumed with an impressive win over Sumakaray and Lonhspresso in the Listed Alinghi Stakes (1100m) and was far from disgraced when finished seventh behind Dystopia, Shamal Wind and She Can Skate in the Group 3 Mumm Stakes at Flemington on Crown Oaks Day.

There are only two last-start winners in the Travel Associates Classic final field and both the resuming Discreet and Sue Grills-trained Darcey will be looking to continue their winning runs.

Discreet is returning to the races for the first time since finishing her winter campaign, which included an impressive fifth place finish behind Group 1 winner Red Tracer in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m), with a win in the Makers Mark Handicap (1200m).

The daughter of Show A Heart will be making her debut as a four-year-old in the Listed event this weekend and will jump from barrier 11 carrying 56.5kg with leading jockey Ric McMahon on board.

Darcey will be making her city debut after recording back-to-backs in the Denman Dash (900m) and Bengalla Mining Skellatar Sprint (1000m) at Muswellbrook.

The Grandera mare has recorded eight wins from thirteen starts but will face by far the toughest tough of her racing career when she takes on the strong field in the Travel Associates Classic at Doomben this weekend.

Other interesting runners in the Travel Associates Classic field include Bruce Hill-trained Calinete, six-year-old Alltherightmoves and the resuming Jacquetta.
