2013 Emirates Stakes Day Scratchings And Track Report

The final day of the 2013 Melbourne Cup Carnival is here; with the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) and Group 1 VRC Sprint Classic (1200m) the main events on what should be a stellar day racing.

Flemington Track Report

  • Weather: Overcast
  • Track Conditions: Dead (4)
  • Penetrometer: 4.9
  • Rail: +3m entire
  • Previous Rail: +3m Entire Circuit (7/11/2013)

There was expected to be a bit of rain around Melbourne this weekend but thus far the wet weather has held off and the Flemington track will start as a dead four; a rating which is expected to be upgraded later in the day.

The Group 1 Emirates Stakes is the feature race on the card and will now have only thirteen runners following the scratchings of Linton, Havana Gold and Mouro.

Mouro and Havana Gold were both withdrawn from the field earlier in the week but Linton was only scratched this morning after he was found by trainer John Sadler with a high temperature.

The VRC Sprint Classic is the other Group 1 race today and is set to be run with a full field of fourteen leading sprinters down the famous Flemington straight.

Leading Hong Kong sprinter Lucky Nine is the clear favourite for the race but a number of locally-trained hopefuls like Buffering, Epaulette, Rebel Dane and Moment Of Change all have the opportunity to stamp themselves as the leading sprinters in the land.

There is plenty of other racing action at Flemington today and below you can find all the scratchings.

Once you have studied the scratchings you can head over to Ladbrokes.com.au and find the best odds for every race on 2013 Emirates Stakes Day.
