Likely 2013 Melbourne Cup Field

The official 2013 Melbourne Cup final field is due to be released shortly and here you will find the likely field for the $6 million race.

With Ruscello’s connections opting to accept following his 2013 Lexus Stakes win earlier today, Bart Cummings’ Precedence is expected to just missed out on a spot in the Melbourne Cup.

Ruscello has won five of his 18 race starts and has accumulated more than $233,000 in prize earnings.

The five-year-old, who was recently purchased by Australian owners OTI Racing, was not going to accept for the Melbourne Cup until he won today’s Lexus Stakes.

While trainer Ed Walker was still not keen on accepting for the Melbourne Cup 2013, it’s likely his new connections found the offer far too tempting to turn down.

The last runner to sneak into the 2013 Melbourne Cup field, apart to Ruscello, is likely to be Ibicenco.

Ibicenco won his last start in the Group 3 Geelong Cup on October 23, 2013, and will be looking to continue the strong record of winners going into theCup.

The five-year-old has won four of his 21 race starts and has earned more than $450,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.

Dunaden, Fawkner, Hawkspur and Dear Demi are also included in the 2013 Melbourne Cup likely final field.
