2013 Melbourne Cup Betting – Dandino Big Mover After Caulfield Cup

European-trained stayer Dandino has been the big market mover in 2013 Melbourne Cup betting markets after he stormed home late to finish second behind Fawkner in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) this afternoon.

Dandino was set a tough assignment from a wide barrier in the Caulfield Cup but leapt out of the ground in the final 100 metres in what was a most impressive trial for the Melbourne Cup.

The Dansili entire was available at Melbourne Cup odds of $21 before the Caulfield Cup but is not into $7 after the sensational performance.

The other major mover has been Caulfield Cup winner Fawkner who has now passed the ballot requirements for the Melbourne Cup.

There were a number of question marks over the staying ability of the Reset gelding before the Caulfield Cup but he put those to bed with an exceptional staying performance and he is now into Melbourne Cup odds of $10 after being available at $101 leading up to today’s race.

Fawkner is no certainty to push on to the Melbourne Cup but Lloyd Williams is sure to be well represented; with Sea Moon ($17), Masked Marvel ($18), Green Moon ($21) and Seville all in contention for ‘the race that stops a nation’.

Hawkspur has drifted slightly and is now out to $11 after his slightly unlucky seventh place finish in the Caulfield Cup, while Jet Away firmed into $13 following his tough performance.

Gai Waterhouse-trained Fiorente remains the favourite in 2013 Melbourne Cup betting markets at odds of $5.50 and will return to the races next weekend when he faces glamour mare Atlantic Jewel, Underwood Stakes winner It’s A Dundeel ($41 in Melbourne Cup betting but unlikely to contest the race) and former Melbourne Cup favourite Puissance De Lune who is now on the fifth line of betting at odds of $11.

European stayers Mount Athos ($12), Verema ($15), Voleuse De Coeurs ($16), Royal Empire ($21) and Tres Blue ($21) all arrived at the International Equine Centre in Werribee this afternoon and remain handy in Melbourne Cup betting markets.
