Peter Snowden-trained Long Johnhas continued to receive plenty of support in 2013 Caulfield Guineas betting markets and remains the favourite for the $1 million Group 1 event.
Long John has impressed in his three race starts this preparation; finishing third in the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) before going on to record a dominant victory in the Listed Henry Bucks Best Dressed Stakes (1400m) and storm home to finish third in the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m).
The Darley gelding has remained steady at the quote of $4 since the Caulfield Guineas final field was released earlier this week but has drifted slightly this morning and is now available at odds of $4.20.
Amazingly these odds aren’t the true price you can claim Long John at today thanks to their incredible DOUBLE THE ODDS (DTO) promo that will be running throughout the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival.
Tony Vasil-trained Prince Harada has been slightly forgotten leading into the Caulfield Guineas but has remained steady at the price of $5.50 (or $11 in DTO)
The son of Haradasun is still chasing his first win at Group level but has performed well this preparation; finishing an unlucky second in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield and fifth in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens.
Classy Kiwi colt El Roca sizzled in trackwork earlier this week and has been backed into odds of $7.
The Fastnet Rock colt made his Australian debut with an impressive second place finish behind Éclair Big Bang in the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) and according to trainer Trent Busuttin has settled in Australian better than any other horse that he has brought over from New Zealand.
Another well backed runner has been Peter Moody-trained Dissident who has been desperately unlucky not to record a major race win this campaign.
The Sebring colt finished second in The Rosebud (1200m), the Group 3 The Run To The Rose (1200m) and the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) before finish an unlucky sixth at Group 1 weight-for-age level in the George Main Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick.
Dissident will need plenty of luck to win the stallion-making race from an outside gate but punters are confident he can overcome this and he has been backed into $8 (or $16 in DTO) after opening at $12.
