Araldo has been awarded the Listed The Bart Cummings on protest at Flemington Racecourse today October 5, 2013.

The five-year-old was originally beaten by a nose in the 2013 The Bart Cummings by favourite Sea Moon, however, was awarded the win by stewards.

This now means that Sea Moon has not passed the qualifying clause for the $2.5 million Caulfield Cup, which will run at Caulfield Racecourse on October 19, 2013.

However, even when he thought his horse had won, co-owner Nick Williams was unsure if they would head down the Caulfield Cup path.

“I need to see (the race) a couple more times,” the trainer said.

“He probably didn’t have a lot of luck on the run.

“Hopefully he’ll come on from there.

“I’ve only see the race live.

“I think we’ll sit there in the cool light of day and make a decision.

“The most positive thing to come out of the race is he carried 60 kilograms.

“We can move forward and not be left scratching our heads.

“We’ll move forward and see where we get to.”

The 2013 The Bart Cummings winner, Araldo, is also nominated for the 2013 Caulfield Cup, along with the $6.2 million Melbourne Cup on Tuesday 5, 2013.

Today was his first Australian race win after two previous race starts at stakes level this spring.

Araldo was ridden by jockey Glen Boss in the 2013 The Bart Cummings and was paying odds of $5.50 at offer the best odds on all the best races throughout the 2013 spring racing carnival.
