Rosehill Results – Complacent Claims Gloaming Stakes 2013

The 2013 Gloaming Stakes has been run and won at Rosehill Gardens today, with Complacent coming out on top.

Complacent had the run of the race in the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes and was able to hang on ahead of Savvy Nature, who produced a big run for second, and third place-getter Drago.

The three-year-old went from winning a $22,000 handicap at Hawkesbury two weeks ago, to claiming today’s 2013 Gloaming Stakes in what was a mammoth jump in grade.

He will now be aimed at the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes at Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday October 12, 2013.

Trainer Peter Snowden revealed that he always expected Complacent to be a strong competitor throughout the spring carnival.

“He’s a quality horse and we thought this about a month ago, we thought he might be a carnival horse,” Snowden said.

“He was given a gun run.

“He’s a young immature horse but he definitely has talent.

“He looks a nice horse for the future.

“If he pulls up okay the Spring Champion is on the cards.

“I think come autumn he’ll really furnish into the horses I know he will be”

Jockey Kerrin McEvoy was pleased to see Complacent come out and beat the big guns in the 2013 Gloaming Stakes.

“He’s a nice big horse to look at. He’s a lovely type,” said McEvoy.

“He’s leapfrogged a few classes to come here today but he’s done it in nice style.

“It was nice to see him relax today.

“He really powered to the line.”
