2013 Champagne Stakes Odds – Miracles Of Life Firming Favourite

In a tight market for three-year-old sprinting fillies it is a proven Group 1 winner in Miracles Of Life who the punters are coming for to win the Champagne Stakes 2013 on Moir Stakes Night.

Scheduled as Moonee Valley Race 4 on Friday evening this year’s $150,000 Gallagher Bassett / TBV Champagne Stakes (1200m) drew a final field of 11 hopefuls.

Half of those are under $10 in the latest Champagne Stakes odds with the clear favourite and market mover being the autumn’s Blue Diamond champ Miracles Of Life at $2.50.

Drawn in gate four with their Morphettville-based trainer Daniel Clarken opting to keep Adelaide jockey Lauren Stojakovic on again, the Not A Single Doubt filly is second-up for the season and looking for her fifth career win at start number six.

Her only loss came first-up this prep in her maiden run since defeating Fast ‘N’ Rocking to win the $1 million Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield in February.

Resuming back at Caulfield on August 31 Miracles Of Life ran fourth to the David Hayes-trained Caulfield Guineas hope Fast ‘N’ Rocking who turned the tables in the Group 3 H.D.F. McNeil Stakes (1200m).

Now going back against her own kind Miracles Of Life is well backed to win the Champagne Stakes with her bigger spring plans still being mapped out.

Second favourite in the Champagne Stakes betting markets for the weekend at $4.80 is then Thump set to get the run of the race from barrier one with Craig Williams riding.

A Group 2 winner at Warwick Farm in the Silver Shadow Stakes two back, John Thompson’s daughter of Red Ransom was last seen crossing a brave third behind Thousand Guineas fancy Bound To Earth in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) at Randwick three weeks ago.

There are then three other single figure fancies with Gai Waterhouse’s untapped Northern Meteor filly Cosmic Endeavour ($8), the in-form Mick Price-trained Tango’s Daughter ($8.50) after their third on the trot and the Peter Snowden-trained stakes winning Street Cry filly Metastasio ($9).

Following closely at a quote of $11 for an upset Champagne Stakes result are then Group 1 New Zealand winner Ruud Awakening ($11) and the unbeaten I Love It ($11).
