2013 George Main Stakes Results – Streama Wins

Today’s 2013 George Main Stakes has been won by Streama at Royal Randwick Racecourse.

Streama won the race by half a length ahead of Royal Descent, who finished second, and Veyron who rounded out the placings in third.

The five-year-old is nine races into a long preparation that has spanned the autumn, winter and spring racing carnivals.

Trainer Guy Walters is leaning towards sending Streama to the Group 1 Epsom Handicap over 1,600 metres at Royal Randwick Racecourse and then sending her for a spell.

“She’s a fabulous mare, that’s her third Group 1 now,” Walters said.

“She had a very hard run at Warwick Farm.

“I thought Blake (Shinn) rode her brilliantly and it’s a great thrill to win this race.

“We’re very very fortunate to have him riding for us. He’s a vital part of our stable.

“(Streama) raced in the autumn and she’s raced in the winter.

“(We’ll likely go to) The Epsom then we’ll spell her and bring her back for the Doncaster”

Blake Shinn was the jockey aboard Streama in the 2013 George Main Stakes.

“It’s very satisfying,” said Shinn.

“To get a big victory in a big Group 1 race like the George Main is very special.

“I was able to get in the right position and just to control the tempo.

“I knew when I asked her to go that she’d respond.

“I’m just wrapped to be able to pull this race off.”
