Bringing the action of George Main Stakes Day to a close as Race 8 at 5:15pm (AEST) the $200,000 Group 2 Bowermans Office Furniture Shorts (1100m) has drawn a talented field of 14 sprinters.

Heading The Shorts betting at a current quote of $2.50 having been smashed early by the punters, Lonhro four-year-old Sessions is set to line-up for just their eighth career start.

Already a four-time winner the progressive stallion was last seen resuming at the track on September 7 when a brave second finishing only a neck away from Decision Time in the Group 3 Concorde Stakes (1000m).

Just two of their rivals are also under double figures in the markets including their last start conqueror Decision Time ($6), Clarry Conners’ Foreplay six-year-old looking to go back-to-back at the track.

The last single figure fancy at $8.50 is then the Joe Pride-trained Dubawi gelding Tiger Tees in gate six with Christian Reith to ride.

Tiger Tees is first-up here after some disappointing runs in Sydney during the autumn their most recent of which was an 11th to Hot Snitzel in the Group 3 Sebring Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on April 6.

They have a nice record when resuming however having taken out last year’s Concorde Stakes by three lengths in Sydney just over 12 months ago, an effort Pride is hoping they can recreate this spring.

For punters looking for a little more value in their The Shorts betting this weekend there are some genuine hopes at nice prices including Group 1 performer Aeronautical ($11), Tony Gollan’s Stradbroke Handicap fourth placed Queensland raider Spirit Of Boom ($11), Famous Seamus ($13) and multiple Group 1 winning veteran Hay List ($13).
