Final Field & Barrier Draw – 2013 Spring Stakes

The final field and barrier draw has been announced for the Group 3 Spring Stakes, which will run at Newcastle Racecourse this Wednesday September 18, 2013.

A total of 15 horses have accepted for a run in the $150,000 race, including Fuerza.

Fuerza has won one of his 10 race starts and has earned more than $235,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.

The Snippetson colt won his last start at Newcastle in a $22,000 handicap over 1,600 metres and will be looking to produce another winning run this Wednesday.

Fuerza has placed in a number of Group races throughout his short career, even finishing second by a nose to Guelph in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes at Royal Randwick this April.

He will be looking out to claim his very own Black Type win for the first time when he contests the 2013 Spring Stakes.

Fuerza has drawn barrier one for the 2013  Spring Stakes and will be ridden by in-form jockey Jim Cassidy in the race.

Vilanova is also included in the 2013 Spring Stakes final field and barrier draw.

The three-year-old will need to bounce back from a 10th placing in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality if he wants to be competitive in the 2013 Spring Stakes.

VIlanova is trained by Chris Waller and has won one of his nine race starts so far.

The Commands colt will jump from barrier eight and be ridden by jockey Hugh Bowman in the 2013 Spring Stakes.
