Prince Cheri Claims 2013 Kingston Town Stakes Victory

Prince Cheri has won the 2013 Kingston Town Stakes at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse today September 14, 2013.

The four-year-old won the race by a half head in front of Honorius, who finished second, and Julienas, who placed in third.

The race began in dramatic fashion, with Lunayir tossed rider Glyn Schofield moments after the barrier opened.

The fall out led to Chasse being pulled up early after suffering interference from the wayward Lunayir.

Prince Cheri was able to manoeuvre around the commotion to claim his fourth win from six race starts.

Trainer David Vandyke was pleased with Prince Cheri’s efforts in the 2013 Kingston Town Stakes.

“He had to step up to 2,000 (metres) today,” Vandyke said.

“It was a good grinding tough performance and it’s the kind of run that tells us he can go further.

“He was strong to the line.

“We’ll see how he pulls up and we’ll probably head to Melbourne for either the Turnbull or the Bart Cummings.”

Jay Ford was the jockey aboard Prince Cheri for today’s 2013 Kingston Town Stakes victory.

“He’s very versatile,” Ford said.

“I got rolling into the turn.

“For a minute there Honorius gave me a good tussle but the last bit my bloke was starting to pull away.”
