Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn is looking...
The Sebring Sprint (formerly known as the Theo Marks Stakes) is the main supporting race on the Golden Rose card at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.
Eleven horses are set to contest the Group 2 Sebring Theo Marks Stakes (1400m), with barriers set to fly at 3.10pm for the fifth race of the day.
The clear standout in the 2013 Sebring Theo Marks Stakes betting market at Ladbrokes is speedy gelding Rain Affair who is currently available at odds of $2.60 to return to the winners circle.
The son of Commands started his 2013 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a dominant victory in the Group 3 Missile Stakes at Royal Randwick but was defeated as a short price favourite in the Group 3 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm on August 24.
Rain Affair’s biggest competition is expected to come from the enigmatic Boban ($4.80) who returned to the races with a strong victory in the James McCall Retirement Handicap (1300m) at Rosehill Gardens a fortnight ago, while the best backed runner has been Robert Heathcote-trained Solzhenitsyn who will return to the races after winning a barrier trial at Doomben last week.
#2 Solzhenitsyn $6.50
If the rain stays away from Rosehill Gardens Solzhenitsyn will be very difficult to beat and one of the best bets of the weekend. Solzhenitsyn races very well fresh and finished third behind Pierro and More Joyous (and ahead of Rain Affair) first-up in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) last campaign. The versatile galloper has been placed at Group 1 level over 1400 metres and will relish the firm Rosehill surface.
#1 Rain Affair $2.60
Rain Affair will have a clear advantage if it rains on Saturday or the track has an obvious leader bias like the one that was evident at Royal Randwick last Saturday. The six-year-old had to work very hard at the front in the Warwick Stakes and it is hard to know how much a run that tough may have taken out of him.
#9 Taxmeifyoucan Ladbrokes.com.au
Taxmeifyoucan is one of the best each-way bets on the Rosehill Gardens card this Saturday. The four-year-old finished his autumn campaign with a win in the Listed Inglis Guineas (1400m) at Scone and has a strong first-up record. He very rarely runs a bad race and should be included in all exotic bets.
Whether you want to back Solzhenitsyn or Rain Affair, you are sure to find the best 2013 Sebring Theo Marks Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.
