Appearance Tops 2013 Sheraco Stakes Nominations

Guy Walter’s triple Group 1 winning mare Appearance is set to make her new season return this Saturday having been nominated for the Sheraco Stakes 2013 at Rosehill’s Golden Rose Day.

Last seen running seventh to Sacred Falls in a muddy edition of the Doncater Mile back in April, the now five-year-old daughter of Commands has had three Sydney trials leading up to her Sydney Spring Racing Carnival comeback.

Winner of the Coolmore Classic – Queen Of The Turf Stakes double before the Doncaster, Appearance has failed to finish better than sixth in her trial performances this season.

Still, Walter is happy with her condition and hopes she can be competitive first-up on Saturday in the $125,000 Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) as she heads toward a run in the $500,000 Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day.

A total of 15 fillies and mares make up the Sheraco Stakes nominations this year, Appearance also topping the weights with 59.5kg.

The next heaviest weighted hopefuls all on 58kg are then Light Fingers Stakes winner Bennetta, Gerald Ryan’s Snitzel four-year-old Flying Snitzel and Gosford Guineas champ Ichihara.

Brisbane’s leading trainer Rob Heathcote has nominated for two of his Queensland raiders with the consistent six-year-old Fillydelphia and Bradbury’s Luck grey Fire Up Fifi, last seen winning the Listed Merceds-Benz Mile at Eagle Farm in June, both set to resume.

Other notable hopes then include the Anthony Cummings-trained Arctic Flight, Peter Snowden’s last start Darley Crown winner back in May Aerobatics and Chris Waller’s veteran Redoute’s Choice mare Dystopia.

See below for the current Sheraco Stakes nominations 2013 with the final field due for release on Wednesday.
