Let’s Elope Stakes 2013 Tips & Selections

Punters looking to get out of trouble in the last race at Flemington tomorrow are facing a tough assignment, with the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) a very difficult betting assignment.

A field of sixteen runners is set to contest the race this weekend and the barriers will open for the final major racing event of the day at 4.50pm (AEST).

The current favourite in the 2013 Let’s Elope Stakes betting market at Ladbrokes Australia is A Time For Julia ($6) who flew home late to finish second behind Octavia in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 17.

Classy mare Commanding Jewel ($7) is on the second line of betting while Octavia ($8.50), who is shooting for her third straight victory, is the only other horse in the field that are available at single figure odds.

Other in-form mares available at longer odds are the consistent Catkins ($10), Peter Moody-trained Thy ($11) and Quintessential ($41) who won the Chairman’s Handicap (2100m) and Group 2 Eagle Farm Cup (2200m) during the 2013 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.

#10 Alzora ($21)

In a race with so many winning chances there is plenty of value on offer towards the end of the market. Alzora finished her autumn campaign with a couple of ordinary runs but her first-up form is excellent and she started her last preparation with an impressive victory in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) at the same trip and venue. At this price she is well worth an each-way bet.

#9 Thy ($11)

The Peter Moody-trained mare started her campaign with an impressive victory in the Listed Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) and based on that performance will be very competitive in this race. She has a strong second-up record but is still chasing her first victory at Flemington.

#5 Oasis Bloom ($14)

Oasis Bloom will take plenty of benefit out of her first-up effort in the Cockram Stakes and is another mare available at juicy odds that is a genuine winning chance. On her day the daughter of Al Maher is good enough to win at Group 1 level and should be included in multiplies.
