Guelph Dominates 2013 Furious Stakes Betting Market

Despite drawing an outside barrier, Darley filly Guelph is a clear favourite in the 2013 Furious Stakes (1200m) betting market.

The Group 2 Furious Stakes will be run as race four at Royal Randwick this Saturday, with the talented group of fillies expect to jump from the gates at 2.30pm.

Punters are clearly expecting Guelph to begin her 2013 Spring Racing Carnival campaign the same way that she finished her juvenile preparation as the daughter of Exceed And Excel has been the clear market mover, since the betting market at Ladbrokes.com.au opened yesterday evening, and she is into odds of $2.20.

Guelph was named champion two-year-old for the 2012/2013 racing season after her back-to-back victories in the Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) at the end of the 2013 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Trainer Peter Snowden was worried that he may have asked too much of Guelph in her juvenile campaign but his fears were put to rest when she recorded an impressive barrier trial victory at Rosehill Garden on August 20.

The only other horses in the Furious Stakes field that are available at single figure odds are Darren Smith-trained Dream Forward ($8) and debut winner Forever Loved ($8.50).

Dream Forward started his three-year-old campaign with a narrow win in the Aladdin’s Laundry Handicap (1200m) at Canterbury, and will need to improve significantly to be competitive in this race, while Forever Loved, who is owned by Greg Kolivos of Pierro fame, recorded an impressive win on debut in the TAB Rewards Handicap (1100m) at Canterbury just over a fortnight ago.

Guelph is clearly the horse to beat in the Furious Stakes and you can find the best odds for the exciting three-year-old with Australian betting newcomer Ladbrokes.com.au.

Sign-up and deposit at Ladbrokes.com.au this weekend to receive a $250 bonus bet that can be used to back Guelph or any horse this weekend!
