2013 The Run To The Rose Odds Led By Safeguard

The Group 3 The Run To The Rose (1200m) is set to be a very competitive betting race with a number of the leading chances well found in the early stages of betting.

Darley colt Sidestep is a narrow favourite in 2013 The Run To The Rose betting market after he had no luck when finishing fourth behind Va Pensiero in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens a fortnight ago.

The Golden Slipper runner-up has raced consistently during his brief career but has only recorded one win from six starts – his only victory coming in the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens in March.

Despite his poor winning percentage Sidestep is currently on top of The Run To The Rose odds at a current quote of $3.80.

Chris Waller-trained Zoustar will be making his first appearance at the races this preparation but has still been well backed by punters and is currently available at odds of $4.60.

Zoustar was one of the star juvenile performers during the 2013 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival and recorded his first win at Group level with a comfortable victory over Vilanova in the Group 2 BRC Sires Produce Stakes (1350m) at Doomben.

Another colt that has been well found in the early stages of betting is David Vandyke-trained Ike’s Legacy ($7.50) who will be having just his second career start on Saturday.

The Redoute’s Choice colt scored an impressive victory on debut in the TAB IPad App Handicap (1300m) at Warwick Farm in June and Vandyke is confident that the three-year-old can make the step up to Group 1 level , with the Golden Rose (1400m) firmly on his agenda.

Talented colt Eurozone ($8) is also heading to the Golden Rose and will be looking to defend his unbeaten record in the Run To The Rose at Rosehill on Saturday.

The son of Northern Meteor stepped up in class with a comfortable victory in the Listed The Rosebud (1200m) but will need to improve again if he is going to record his fourth straight victory against the hot field on Saturday.

Gosford-based colt Napayshini ($9.50), who recorded a dominant five and a half lengths victory first-up this campaign, is the only other three-year-old in the field that is currently priced at single figure odds.
