Undefeated filly Miracles Of Life will take on eight rivals when she returns to racing in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
The lightly-framed three-year-old has not been seen at the races since her famous victory in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) in February this year but is reportedly in excellent condition after impressing with a six and a half lengths win in a barrier trial at Morphettville a fortnight ago.
Lauren Stojakovic will maintain the ride on the daughter of Not A Single Doubt and the pair will jump from barrier eight this weekend.
Looking to end the undefeated run of Miracles Of Life will be David Hayes-trained Fast ‘N’ Rocking (barrier five) who has been labeled the best maiden in Australia after his unlucky second place finish behind Safeguard in the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on August 17.
The Fastnet Rock colt has now been placed at Group level on three occasions but Hayes is desperate for him to record his first victory on Saturday.
Leading Melbourne trainer Peter Moody has a strong hand in the McNeil Stakes with Thermal Current (barrier 4) and Il Cavallo (barrier nine) both set to compete.
Thermal Current scored his maiden victory with an impressive performance on the synthetic track at Geelong a fortnight ago while Il Cavallo started his campaign with a fourth place finish in the Vain Stakes.
Moody announced yesterday that Il Cavallo would compete with a Norton Bit and a tongue tie in an attempt to get the Choisir colt to settle in his races while Thermal Current will have blinkers applied for the first time.
Tony Vasil-trained Price Harada will defend his unbeaten record in the McNeil Stakes this weekend after starting his racing career with two comfortable wins at Ballarat and Moonee Valley.
Vasil has a high opinion of the son of Haradasun and has included him in the nominations for the Caulfield Guineas (1600m), Caulfield Cup (2400m) and Cox Plate (2040m).
Rounding out the McNeil Stakes field are Gai Waterhouse-trained Divine Calling (barrier one), unbeaten Pyrrolic, Kiwi gelding Orion and Queen Adelaide Stakes winner Za Moulin Rouge.
