Bringing the exciting Warwick Stakes Day racing action to a close as Race 8 at 5:00pm (AEST), this year’s $125,000 Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) has attracted a bumper field of 16 hopefuls.

To wear the No. 1 saddlecloth with the 59kg top weight is the Guy Walter-trained Appearance, the triple Group 1 winning mare racing for the first time since her seventh in the Doncaster run on a mud Randwick track.

Winner of the Myer Classic last spring, Appearance is again heading toward the $500,000 Group 1 Victoria Derby Day feature over the Flemington mile on November 2.

Now five-years-old, Appearance will get that campaign started on Saturday as she looks to regain her earlier autumn form in Sydney where she won the Group 1 Coolmore Classic and Queen Of The Turf Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill.

Walter has also accepted for Willy Jimmy drawn in gate five.

Following Appearance (gate 10), in the Show County Quality field and weights is then another widely-drawn hopeful in the Bart & James Cummings-trained Norzita (57kg) in gate 12 with Hugh Bowman to ride.

The talented Thorn Park mare is also a multiple Group 1 champion having won the Coolmore Flight Stakes over the mile last October before coming back in the autumn to win the Vinery Stud Stakes over 2000m on Golden Slipper Day.

That success came after her very close third to Appearance in the Coolmore Classic and was followed by another brave third this time in the Doncaster Mile when suited to the wet track conditions at Randwick.

Norzita has had just the one trial, a sixth over 800m on August 2, leading up to her first-up run where she’ll likely be a little under with her main aim this time in being the $3 million Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 26.

A number of top trainers have multiple Show Country Quality acceptors this year including Joe Pride.

The local horseman’s major player on Saturday is of course Rain Affair in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes, but he’ll also be looking forward to the runs of Danzero seven-year-old See The World and Title in the Show County.

See The World had a stellar autumn in Sydney and was last seen winning the July Sprint over this distance at Randwick on July 27 when carrying 59kg so they will appreciate coming back to 56.5kg here.

Title meanwhile gets in on the 54kg minimum and has a great barrier with gate four, the Honours List seven-year-old coming off a distant third to Rain Affair in the Group 3 Missile Stakes (1200m) from August 10.

Brisbane’s Kelso Wood meanwhile has bought over three of his Queensland stars who run on Saturday including his Group 1 winning Snitzel stallion Sizzling out wide in gate 11 with Tim Clark to ride in their four-year-old debut.

Sizzling, last seen running seventh in the Stradbroke Handicap, will be joined in the field by in-form and nicely-drawn stablemates Belltone (barrier two) and Someday (barrier three) who ran third and first respectively in the Listed Glasshouse Handicap (1400m) at the Sunshine Coast in late June.

Other notable hopes then include Chris Waller’s consistent stakes performer Riva De Lago who will be ridden by Jim Cassidy, the Gary Portelli-trained Royal Sovereign Stakes winner Rebel Dane, Wyong galloper Ichihara last seen winning the Gosford Guineas and Gai Waterhouse’s Knight Exemplar.

The official Show County Quality 2013 final field, barriers, jockeys and weights are detailed below.
