Set to jump at 3:00pm (AEST) as Warwick Farm Race 5 the $125,000 Group 3 IBIS Styles Lansvale Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) features a final field of 11 hopefuls.

Three of those come off a last start win, the most notable of which is the Gai Waterhouse-trained Pitcrew.

The smart Sebring gelding has won all three of their career starts to date on Slow – Heavy tracks and will be out to prove they can handle firmer ground this weekend.

They were last seen narrowly holding out Meteoros in a 2YO Handicap over 1400m at the Warwick Farm track in July so Saturday’s course and distance will suit.

Racing second-up for the season is then Darren Smith’s Charge Forward filly Dream Forward, third on debut to Assail in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic back in December, who won first-up at Canterbury last time out.

The final last-start winner resumes here with the Anthony Cummings-trained Drago last seen winning the Juveniles Stayer Handicap over 1800m at Rosehill in May.

Fourth in both the Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes over 1400m and 1600m respectively at Randwick in April, first-up over 1300m is sure to work to their advantage.

The Danehill Dancer colt is nominated for all the majors this Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival including the $1 million Group 1 The BECK Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 12 for which they are well liked in the early markets paying $15 to win.

Other notable Up And Coming Stakes youngsters this year include the Bjorn Baker-trained Snippetson colt Fuerza out wide in gate 10 who was a brave second to Guelph in the Champagne Stakes, Chris Waller’s JJ Atkins fourth placed Vilanova with the rails run from gate one, the consistent John O’Shea-trained Lonhro colt Diamond Oasis and Dowdstown Charlie.

After a dead last 13th in the JJ Atkins in Brisbane back in June, David Payne’s Myboycharlie gelding Dowdstown Charlie resumed on August 10 at Randwick and finished a brave third behind Eurozone in the Listed The Rosebud (1200m) pointing to improvement to come.
