Bell Loaded for 2013 Hawkesbury Gold Cup Assault

Queensland-based jockey Timothy Bell is gearing up for a big day at Hawkesbury on Thursday where he will continue his association with the Grant Allard-trained Loaded in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup 2013.

Bell rode the Flying Nicko six-year-old last start at Doomben where the duo combined to win the Listed Tattersall’s Mile (1600m) on July 13.

That was Loaded’s third straight turf triumph too following wins at Canterbury and Eagle Farm over 1550m and 1500m respectively.

The talented gelding gets the chance to make it four straight and counting tomorrow when they take on a crack field in the $150,000 Group 3 Panthers Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) with Bell traveling to Sydney for the ride.

Drawn on the rails in barrier one Loaded gets in on the 54kg minimum and will relish another run over the mile.

They do however face a strong line-up of rivals including Civic Stakes winner Mic Mac, the Gai Waterhouse-trained import Julienas, their smart stablemate Kinnersley and Chris Waller’s recent Winger Challenge champ Coup Ay Tee.

Hawkesbury Gold Cup betting markets are a logjam with those four all at $5 or under.

Loaded then is the only other single figure fancy paying around $9 to take out the title and break their Group winning maiden.

Bell is hopeful that will happen not only for the horse and its connections but also for his own career.

“If Loaded was to do well at Hawkesbury, it could start the ball rolling for me,” Bell told AAP this week.

The Hawkesbury Gold Cup assignment is Bell’s second time to NSW in a week, but he’s happy to remain based in the Sunshine State with his eye on a premiership win for the season.

“I’m happy staying in Queensland for the moment and making these short little visits but in the future I will be looking for bigger goals to achieve,” he said.
